Many strange and unexplained events have occurred in modern history.  These
events are often based around an unsolved murder, bizarre landmark, unexplained
attack, or archeological discovery.  This list will be examining some bizarre
locations and unsolved mysteries. 

Music is found in every known culture, past and present.  It has been in existence for at least 50,000 years and has evolved to become a fundamental aspect of human life.  A country’s music is influenced by all areas of that culture, including social and economic organization and experience, climate, and access to technology.  Some of the most influential people in history have contributed to the landscape of music.  Composers have been around for generations, creating rhythm, sound, and happiness.  I have collected a list of 10 of the most influential compositions and opera favorites.    

The Universe is defined as everything that physically exists, including all forms of matter, energy, and momentum.  A galaxy is a massive, gravitationally bound system that consists of stars and stellar remnants.  Over 100 billion galaxies exist in the observable universe.  Earth exists in the Milky Way galaxy.  Since the 1930’s a high majority of strange and unusual phenomenon have been reported in earth’s skies.  Thousands of UFO sightings have occurred in modern history, including cases of alleged alien abduction.    

The world’s best selling single in history is Elton John’s 1997 release, Candle in the Wind.  Rounding out the Top 5 are Bing Crosby’s White Christmas and Silent Night, Bill Haley & His Comets Rock Around the Clock, and Teixeirinha’s Coração de Luto.  I have compiled a list of the world’s best selling singles since the year 1990.

With the holiday season approaching it is time to take a look at some of the greatest
Christmas movies of all time.  We will be focusing on modern Christmas classics and
films since the year 1980.  You will not find It’s a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 34th
street on this particular list.  We will also be examining the Greatest Christmas TV
Specials of All Time. 

A good video will give you a glimpse into the events surrounding a specific occurrence.
Video is much more convincing to the public eye and helps the viewer recreate a
specific time in history.  Many infamous moments have been documented with a video
camera.  This article will focus on famous world videos and events. 

A special bond exists between man and animal.  We love, marvel, admire, and invite these creatures into our homes and make them part of the family.  Humans have a long history documenting the appeal of exotic animals.  The first formal zoo was the Tower Menagerie in London, which was formed in 1235.  Many animals hold a lasting impression in human history.  Here is a list of some world famous animals and their stories.

Have you ever read a news story on the internet and wondered why it wasn’t being broadcasted on any of the numerous news stations, magazines, newspapers, or journals in your area of the world.  A story that has cultural and international impact, but instead Paris Hilton being released from prison is the lead story of the evening.  It is no secret that local governments have control over what gets broadcasted on national television in all areas of the world.  I have collected a list of 10 recent news stories that managed to get overlooked by the national media in many nations.

World War II was a global conflict that involved all of the world’s super powers. During a time of war human rights and societal laws become lost, towns are massacred, art houses are looted, and military figures are assassinated.  The conflicting countries operations and certain war time events become classified and highly secretive.  This is why many historical gaps and mysteries surround wars.  Many influential events that occurred during World War II are still shrouded in mystery.

La Cosa Nostra is an Italian-American criminal society that dominates organized crime in the United States.  The Italian-American Mafia has its roots in the Sicilian Mafia, but has been a separate organization in the United States for years.  Many of the founding members of the American mafia emigrated from Italy in the beginning of the 20th century.  These individuals gained the nickname Mustache Petes and were members of the Sicilian Mafia, looking to control the lucrative American market.  The younger Sicilian-Americans would later form the Five Families of New York and the Mafia Commission.  The founding members of the American Mob have become infamous over time. 

Ancient mythology is the study of connections between myths, stories, and writings from different cultures.  The term myth is defined as a sacred narrative explaining how the world and humankind came to be.  Many historical mythologies have the same legendary creatures, monsters, human races, and Gods.  These creatures and individual species are thought to have inhabited ancient earth.  Some common examples include leprechauns, elves, dragons, and werewolves.  I have included a brief history and information surrounding some of the most infamous legendary creatures, monsters, and various mythological beings.

Fire is one of the most destructible forces in nature. When fires begin to burn, spread, and thrive off of oxygen, they are unstoppable. On more then one occasion in history entire cities were completely destroyed by massive fires. Since the 20th century, growth in human technology, expansive fire departments, and water access have greatly reduced the amount of massively devastating fires.  They do still occur, fires that spread and engulf entire buildings in ten minutes time, fires that bring down the biggest and well built structures in the world, and fires that capture thousands of lives.  Here is a list of the Top 10 most destructive and deadly fires in modern history.

Good comic books can often times outshine the best book, song, film, or television program.  The in-depth story details, accompanied by amazing illustrations give comics their own identity.  Many influential characters have been born through comic strips, including a long list of famous superheroes.  The first comic book appeared in the U.S. in 1934.  Despite their name, comic books are not necessarily only humorous.  Many modern comic books tell stories in a variety of genres.  In the U.S. the super-hero genre dominates the market, although many other types of comics exist in Japan and various European nations, including the widely popular samurai series.  I have composed a list of 10 of the most shocking and influential moments in the history of comic books. 

In the last 3000 years there has only been around 250 recorded years of peace, with no
international wars.  War can have a devastating impact on a countries society, children,
and economy.  Photographs help people understand how serious war is.  This list
includes a brief history and facts surrounding influential World Wars, including many
revealing war photos.   

There isn’t anything quite as mysterious and spectacular as an old castle.  Many castles carry with them scars from histories most influential moments.  In the Middle Ages rulers began building castles for protection.  In a time of war, the castle was a stronghold for conquering nations.  Many have been battered and left inhabitable, but it is difficult to completely destroy a well built castle.  It is the fairly tale dream to live in a castle on a big hill overlooking the city.  In modern times many contemporary castles are being built, but they are mainly used for hotels and entertainment.  I have compiled a list of some of the most fascinating castles in the world.

The world is full of odd and mysterious places.  Many historical sturctures have an unexplained presence.  It could be a historic battlefield, jail, ancient castle, or place of utter tragedy.  One thing is constant, people have reported hearing unusual noises and witnessing unexplained visuals at these places.  I would love to visit all of the landmarks on this list.  I have compiled a collection of some of the most haunted places in the world.
 

It is no secret that children’s animated features and popular film dynasties dominate the international box office.  A modern Hollywood trend has emerged and movie production companies do not want their blockbusters to gain an R rating.  A film that is rated R will immediately lose millions of adolescent viewers.  As an adult, I always enjoy a good blockbuster adult film that is not intended for kids.  I have collected a list of the Top 10 most successful films at the world box office that are rated R.
